Athena Macedo de Araujo Silva (born July 13, 1998), known professionally as Athena Macedo , is a Brazilian internet personality, make-up artist, Youtuber and model.
Biography
Athena Macedo de Araujo Silva was born on 13 July 1998 in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is of Portuguese and Italian descent. She began to transition to female right before COVID-19 while in school taking virtual classes, choosing the name Athena based on the Greek goddess associated with wisdom, warfare, and handicraft ( who was later syncretized with the Roman goddess Minerva ).

Born in Salvador and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Athena Macedo, who currently lives in California, has shared on social media how the process of transition and gender change is going in another country, after separation from her parents, they moved to Rio de Janeiro in search of a stable life and that's when she discovered her own sexuality.[2] From a humble family with parents who always worked hard to raise three daughters, Athena went through a period of separation from her mother and father when she was just six years old. Soon after the breakup of the relationship, her mother met her stepfather and they moved to Rio de Janeiro in search of better life opportunities.[3]
Career
In the wonderful city, her mother completed aesthetics and cosmetology college and Athena has always followed the matriarch's work. As a result, she developed an interest in skin products and makeup. After moving to another state in Brazil, Athena went through some technical schools trying to find out what career she would pursue. She tried oil and gas and even a chemistry technician, but soon realized he didn't have a calling.
Since she was little, Athena Macedo reports that she has always felt attraction to the male genre, however, she did not have the courage to tell her family. “Growing up with a northeastern family at the time, it was very difficult for everyone to understand how my mind worked. As the years went by, I discovered more and more”, she recalls. In January 2016, Athena decided to go live with her father in Bahia, and that was when she enrolled for airplane pilot school in Lauro de Freitas. She completed the course and was already looking forward to flying and completing her training course, however, she always had the dream of going to the United States, as there were many opportunities to be whatever she wanted and it was there that she began her process of change by identifying as a trans woman. Since then, her skills and love for makeup and skin care products has increased and it was because of this that she decided to share her knowledge and transformation process with the public.
Surgery Journey
In July 2022, Athena went to the surgeon for the first time to talk about the procedures, the post and pre-surgical process. Since then, she didn't have much space in the chest area to place the implants. “I started taking progesterone to help with breast formation. Wow, there was so much, so much anxiety leading up to the day of the surgery that I even counted it on the calendar until the month of. In fact, I only found out the date of my surgery in January of this year,” she says.
When she attended Cedars Sinai, the hospital in Beverly Hills, her friend Kayla Mendoza accompanied her and drove back as soon as she got out of surgery. “Before the surgery, my hand wouldn't stop sweating with so much anxiety and happiness that I was about to take this step that would make me feel like a complete part of being who I am. I met my entire team, the nurses, my anesthesiologist, and my medical assistant too”, she recalls. The doctors informed her about every step of the surgery until the healing period. “They kept me well informed of the entire process. As soon as I woke up, I looked around me and down, when I saw my breasts I screamed and jumped with so much happiness that I didn't even feel the effect of the anesthesia”, she says. “The surgery lasted less than an hour and I got 475 CC instead of what I wanted, which was 575 CC. I'm very happy with the results, I've never seen such beautiful breasts in my life as the work done by my doctor Edward C. Ray.” , celebrates Athena. Maybe next year, Athena will enlarge her breasts but she's not sure yet. “My next surgery will be in 2024 and I am doing facial feminization to help complete the feminization process. This doctor is also from Beverly Hills and I can't wait! It gives me goosebumps just thinking about the results”, she concludes.
