Cush Aaron Solberg (February 18, 1995) currently residing in Ellenville, New York is a cellist/composer studying the cello since 2004 with Susan Seligman of the State University of New York at New Paltz. In 2007 he began composition with George Straser formerly of Ulster County Community College and since 2008 has been under the tutelage of David Tcimpides of Mannes College The New School for Music.


Education

His musical education has been supported through the opportunity of working within the Music Institute of Sullivan and Ulster Counties which hosts a community string orchestra in which he has been the principal since 2008 and with whom he has performed numerous solos.


Achievements

Since 2008 has been a member of the InterSchool Concert Orchestra (NYC) which is under the direction of George Stelluto, Juilliard School of Music. He was the lead cellist of the ISO Symphony Orchestra 2007/08 season conducted by Eugene Minor.

He had the honor of performing with a piano trio at the 2006 and 2007 Annabelle Prager Young Artists Chamber Series in NYC.

He is the founder of the “Trio Tedesco” and “The Quartet”, chamber groups that have also focused on playing popular music for weddings and parties.

Future

Cush has been accepted in the music diploma program at Ulster County Community College for September 2009. There he will have the possibility of expanding his music education not only with his cello and in compostion but also in voice and piano.
