North star: What can I do for my village?

Is a scoring system needed?

Most of the users of wikipedia come from disadvantaged parts of the world.

Hence:

1. They do not have easy access to doctors and specialists

2. Giving them 10 competing tools is as good as giving them none.

Is a seperate section needed for data presentation

For 4 billion people in the world who do not have access to specialists their intent when they open a disease page is to find out if they or some one in their social circle has that disease. We need to give them a heading that they can go to. Also they should be able to send that heading (URL) to their family and friends.

If the link is given in external links there are 2 disadvantages:

1. it will get lost with all the other links

2. Just by looking at the Table of contents the reader at first glance will not know if there is a self diagnosis tool or not.

How will the data be presented on the disease page?

There will be a sub section called

=== Self Diagnosis tools ===

Inside this section the tools will be listed.

Each tool will have a score listed beside it. Clicking on the score will take user to the scoring page for that tool.

If there is more then 1 implementation of the same tool then the tool with the highest score will be listed. A link will be given that will have the tool comparison matrix.

Imagine 100 years from now when two non profit universities from China and India are competing with each other to win the top spot on the tool comparison matrix for depression self diagnosis. And at the same time an old grandma in Ethiopia is using the winner listed under "Self diagnosis tools" to see if she is sad due to her partner passing away or does she need medical help.
