I am Jon Starbuck, I live in Machynlleth, west Wales (an amazingly beautiful place); previously to that I have lived in Gravesend, Canterbury, Lancaster, Whitstable (among other places) and several public schools in the London Home Counties.

I was born in Westminster hospital in 1972, studied physics at the University of Kent at Canterbury and worry about environmental, human rights, animal rights and related issues but I try to be very pragmatic too.

I am interested in the environment, politics, activism, non violent protest, renewable energy - but I don't pretend to know very much on any of them.

I enjoy beer, the internet, good vegan food, cycling, reading, movies, making things like tesla coils, bat detectors, pulse jets and I have a tendency to be risibly nerdy on some subjects.

I currently work for myself and study on a masters degree in renewable energy at Loughbrough University.

Note: my real name is Starbuck, but I have nothing to do with Starbucks – in fact I rather dislike them.
