It's celebration time for Jaipur's Jajoo family, as
their 16-year-old daughter Aarti has just passed her M.Sc in Mathematics
with nearly 80 per cent marks.
A child prodigy, Aarti passed her
Class X board exams when she was just nine, and finished graduation at the
age of 14.
Her elder brother Govind, who was the youngest person in
the world to clear several computer exams, inspired Aarti.
"When I
saw my brother passing exams at a young age, getting awards and lots of
attention from our parents, I felt I too should also strive for some
special achievements," she said.
Special success
A
computers and films buff, Aarti has been recognised as India's youngest
postgraduate by the Limca Book of Records.
Her parents say there's
no special mantra behind this, except for a daily routine of nearly five
hours of studying.
"Children should not be forced to study by
pressurizing them. We tried to create an interest in our children, because
once they have a motivation to achieve they study on their own," Aarti's
mother said.
Aarti's fondest dream is to become an IAS officer. But
her age will not allow her to take the UPSC exams for another five years,
and she is now planning to do research in advanced mathematics in the US.
