Jojit Ballesteros

Hi, I'm Joseph Figueras Ballesteros, a proudly full-blooded Filipino from Paco, Manila, Philippines. My home in Paco is about 500 meters from Plaza Dilao where a statue of Dom Justo Takayama can be found and about 3 kilometers from the Rizal Park where the famous national monument of Jose Rizal is situated. There is a nearby PokéStop from my home.

You can call me by my nickname Jojit, on which my username is based. The fb in my username stands for the first letters of my middle name and surname. I usually use Jojit_fb as my standard username in many internet forums, social media accounts, and other websites.

Contributions in English Wikipedia

I made this vector art of the Rizal Monument where the actual structure is about 3 kilometers away from my home.

I discovered Wikipedia through Google searches probably mid of 2004. I can't remember the exact date. I had been just a regular Wikipedia reader until in September 20, 2004, when I started editing Wikipedia articles using the IP address 203.87.140.198, although, I no longer use that. A few hours after using that IP, I created a user account. You can see all my contributions by visiting my contributions page. Also, through the toolserver, you can view my edit count and summary usage. You can also view my edits across all Wikimedia projects here. I am listed among the top 10,000 English Wikipedians by the number of edits while in the Tagalog Wikipedia, I am in the Top 10.

If you have some comments regarding my contributions, you can leave a comment on my talk page or you can email me.

Participation in other Wikimedia-related projects

Aside from my contributions here in the English Wikipedia, I act as an administrator and write articles in the Tagalog Wikipedia. Also, I'm one of the founding incorporators and trustees of Wikimedia Philippines (WMPH) and was its interim Vice President from April 12, 2010, to May 15, 2010. On May 15, 2010, I was elected Vice President by the Wikimedia Philippines' Board of Trustees. My term was supposed to expire on May 22, 2011, but it was extended because the election of officers was delayed and moved to July 9, 2011. I became the President of Wikimedia Philippines as the result of that election and my term expired on June 2, 2012. As a member of the Board of Trustees, my term expired on June 15, 2013. I also became the Internal Auditor of Wikimedia Philippines.

After working with WMPH, I continuously collaborated with other Wikimedia organizations and communities in the Philippines particularly helping them facilitate edit-a-thons. In addition to that, I speak at various conferences and seminars at schools and other venues from time to time in my capacity.

In 2019, I co-founded the Hablon User Group of Wikimedians of the Philippines or simply HUG and you can contact me at jojit.fb@gmail.com for Hablon User Group concerns. All of my current Wikimedia activities are done in the name of HUG but my edits here in Wikipedia (and other online projects except for meta-wiki edits or Wikimedia Commons uploads that are HUG related) are not official acts of Hablon User Group and they should be treated as a regular edit just like anyone else's.

Interests

I'm interested in any kind of topic under the sun and beyond but Philippine-related articles are my priority here in English Wikipedia. If you spot a Philippine-related article that needs attention, you can report it through my talk page and I may fix it, although I cannot swiftly respond to your requests because I'm busy offline. Alternatively, you can report it to the notice board for Philippine-related topics. Better yet edit it yourself.

About me

I was born in Pasig, Philippines, and grew up there. I'm proud to say that I went to public schools and a state university. I graduated elementary at Pineda Elementary School, Pasig, and I am a proud alumnus of Rizal High School, Pasig City, which was once considered by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest school in the world in terms of population. I finished Bachelor in Computer Data Processing Management at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

I'm a Systems Analyst by profession. I regularly speak at the Flock of the Holy Spirit Catholic Charismatic Community in Pasig City, Philippines, where I'm also the Ministry Servant Head. I was the Education Ministry Head of that organization from 2007 to 2019. From 2014 to 2016, I was one of the Elders of the community as the Men's Servant and the PASTEM Secretary. I also became the Treasurer from January 1, 2017, to February 28, 2018. From 2020 up to the present, I am one of the Elders again as the Ministry Head.

I'm the husband of Billie bb, who is also a Wikimedian and co-founder of HUG.
