I have broad-ranging interests in science and technology. My PhD research focused on the evolution of the genus Platanthera, using molecular techniques to create a phylogeny for the genus. As such, I have specific interests in Platanthera, the Orchidaceae, and molecular phylogenetics. My profession is in information technology, which feeds my interests in that field. More recently I have started a business in gemology and mineralogy, two lifelong passions. My contributions to Wikipedia are concentrated on filling in gaps in these areas and correcting errors.
