Koolance is a PC parts manufacturer and distributor specializing in liquid cooled computer systems. Koolance currently has its headquarters based in Auburn, Washington and a manufacturing facility in South Korea. The company was incorporated in 2000[1].

Products

Koolance manufacturers liquid cooled components and entire "drop-in" systems for PC building enthusiasts. The company has developed, launched and distributed all of their products since their research began in 1995[2], including many cooling blocks for the CPU, GPU, RAM and even the power supply, with the worlds first ever fully submerged liquid cooled power supply released in 2001.[3] They also design, manufacture and sell many liquid cooling supplies and parts, such as tubing, coolant, fittings and pumps. [4]

On April 4, 2008, Koolance was named, along with a list of other companies, in a Patent Infringment claim by Ultra Products. In the complaint, Ultra claimed that Koolance along with other companies' modular power supplies violated the patent by Ultra, filed in 2004. [5]

First submerged power supply

Koolance is notable for designing, manufacturing and selling the worlds first fully submerged liquid cooled power supply. While previous liquid cooled power supplies only had liquid cooling heatsinks on heat generating components, the Koolance power supply features a sealed power supply body filled with non-conductive liquid coolant, specially designed for use in the power supply. One major downside of such a design is the need to have an independant system to circulate the special coolant in and out of the power supply.[6]
