My user name is "Janice Vian", which is my real name. I have been an account holder since April of 2007. I have acquired the habit of doing minor edits on pages I have read, for style, grammar, and clarity, sometimes for spelling, and occasionally for content. If more knowledgeable readers notice problems in relation to any of these edits, please correct them and send me a note.

I am a clinical psychologist in general practice, with life-long interests in scientific and philosophical topics, so I am more likely to edit such content. Editing is somewhat natural for me to do, since I was an English teacher before changing professions to psychology, and I have had quite a bit of editorial experience in an academic environment. I find I am enjoying Wikipedia more and more, as the depth and scope of the database increases, and I use it as my default search engine.

I live in Canada, in Calgary, and I also spend time in rural areas of southern Alberta. I appreciate the fact that physically isolated locations are no longer a barrier to intellectual communities.
