Amanda Cohn is an Australian politician and general practitioner. She has served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 2023. Prior to entering state politics, she was a councillor and deputy mayor of the Albury City Council. She is a member of The Greens NSW.

Political career

Cohn was first nominated as a Greens candidate for the House of Representatives at the 2016 federal election, standing in Farrer. In her campaign, she expressed a desire to address climate change and multinational taxation reform.[1] She was unsuccessful at being elected, receiving 8.22% of primary votes, a swing to the Greens of 4.28%. This was despite the disendorsement of the Australian Labor Party candidate.[2] Cohn received 12.32% of the vote on a three-candidate preferred basis.[3]

Later that year, Cohn was elected as a councillor to the Albury City Council. She was the first Greens member and the youngest woman to have been elected to the council.[4] The Greens totalled 12.21% total primary votes, electing Cohn as the ticket's lead candidate.[5] At her first council meeting, Cohn supported the return of Kevin Mack as mayor over incumbent Henk van de Ven; Mack was consequently elected mayor of Albury. Correspondingly, Cohn was herself elected deputy mayor.[6]
