"Der Ring der Nibelungen" is frequently used incorrectly in the English Language, and is presented as "Der Ring des Nibelungen".
Nibelungen is plural; the Nominative Plural is "Die Nibelungen" (the Nibelungen).
Therefore the Genetive Plural is "der Nibelungen" (of the Nibelungen).
