About me

Well, no surprises here, I'm a research chemist, mainly in the area of organometallic chemistry. I'm also a tradesman, so I look at things a little differently than the average scientist, if there is such a thing. Over most of my working life (and some prior) I have always been involved in educating others in some form. Apart from snowboarding, teaching is definitely my passion in life.

My edits

I'm a big fan of getting it right with respect to spelling and basic grammar; as editors I think we've adopted a social responsibility to help others understand what we know about, and one of my aims is to help make any written material as correct as possible in these aspects. With an educator's approach to much in life I also like to word material such that it is easy to understand, particularly for the average person (and I'm sure that's a Wiki aim too).

So, my edits will mostly be of that sort: typos, grammar and reorganising sentences. There are many people out there doing the hard yards making major edits, and eventually I'll get around to doing that (hopefully) but until then I'll probably just be running around tidying things up. I'm not easily offended by having anything reverted, just drop me a note on my talk page or on the article's talk page and I'm happy to discuss. Similarly, unless something is patently obvious I'll be posting explanatory notes on talk pages too. I like to communicate why things are done.
