Edits and link fixes - and vandalism reverts

  • Also, many thousands of edits, including fixing hundreds (or thousands) of links which other people did not bother to change when they 'moved' articles to new titles. There are too many articles on which I have done edits, and far too many articles on which I have had to fix 'links', for those articles to be listed here. I have also reverted many vandalism attacks on Wikipedia articles.

On the subject of photos on Wikipedia

After having been criticised many times for having donated analogue photos to Wikipedia articles, this user would like to express the position that, when digital photos are not available, analogue photos are every bit as good as digital photos for Wikipedia. Digital cameras have not always existed — therefore, photos should not be restricted to digital photos, only, for Wikipedia (as some Wikipedians seem to be of the opinion they should be). Surely, having an image on a page to illustrate the subject of an article is better than having no photos at all for visual reference. Wikipedia, after all, is supposed to be an online encyclopedia — not a photo competition.

I would never deliberately set out to hurt anyone's feelings by remarking negatively on their photo efforts, and I feel that I should have the right to be treated in the same way by others. There is a saying: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
