About Me

I am Danielle Forrester, a digital designer specialising in print and web design from Scarborough, North Yorkshire. I am in my final year of university, working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design for Digital Media at the University of Hull's Scarborough Campus. I completed my first year of higher education at the University of Bradford on the (BSc) Media Technology and Production programme, before transferring to the Hull's Scarborough Campus in September, 2012.

Outside of university I have worked on a number of projects. From July until September of 2011, I worked on a voluntary basis for Four Degrees West, a graphic and web development agency in Wykeham, North Yorkshire. During my time there I designed and developed a number of websites. I also maintain a working relationship with Enterprise Solutions, a Scarborough-based company which specialises in IT support and services. I have worked on several print and web designs for the company, ranging from business cards, banners, flyers, and an email marketing campaign.

Wikipedia Contributions

I am currently using Wikipedia for a Psychology of Internet Behaviour module assignment. As part of the assessment I will be contributing to the Expectancy violations theory article alongside Tom Firth, Nat Brocklesby, Alicia Gray and Irina Predescu. My personal focus will be on the Theoretical viewpoints and assumptions and the Metatheoretical assumptions sections. I contributed to the page primarily by improving upon the existing content. This was done in the following ways:

• Elaborating on existing information to provide a greater understanding of key terms.
• Improving the quality of existing references and sources to ensure they were full, verifiable and reliable. I found that a number of citations were in the form of short, parenthetical references and were without additional, full citations in the "References" section.
• Sourcing the original authors of unattributed material in accordance with Wikipedia's Reliable Sources guidelines.
• Correcting terminology - in a number of instances I found that incorrect terminology was used in the article, and so I focused on correcting these to prevent confusion with future readers of the article.

Previous Wikipedia Experience

I have previously used Wikipedia as part of a Interaction, Experience and Engagement module assignment. I was assessed on my contribution to the article about the online video-gaming network, Machinima.com and how I engaged with other Wikipedia users. Informed by Wikipedia's Identifying Reliables Sources' guidelines, I edited the article, elaborating and improving the existing content of the page alongside Tom Firth.
