Niel Hilborn Background:
Niel Hilborn (Born August 8, 1990) was born in Houston, Texas. (notes on family?)
He left Texas just after finishing high school, going to Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from the school with honors, receiving a degree in creative writing. While in school he started the literary journal "citation", which has continued on since his departure. He was also on the Macalester team for Slam Poetry when they came first in a national competition. After graduation he has spent time touring and performing his poetry.
Hilborn has been afflicted with OCD since youth, and was additionally diagnosed with Bipolar disorder in college. Though poetry was not originally a coping mechanism, his work shifted to become increasingly more concerned with it as a topic.
