Hi, my name is Pierre, I live in Les Coteaux (Québec), in Canada, and I'm 50 years old.

My passion is astronomy; it has brought me to become President of the Centre français de Montréal (Montreal French Centre) of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and sister Société d'astronomie de Montréal (Montreal Astronomical Society) in 1993 (Librarian 1990, Director 1992, Secretary in 1992); Secretary of the Fédération des astronomes amateurs du Québec (Québec Federation of Amateur Astronomers) in 1994 and 2010–2014; Co-Founder and President of the now-defunct Groupe d'astronomes amateurs Polaris also in 1994; Editor of the AstroInfo newsletter of the Fédération des astronomes amateurs du Québec from 2003 to 2012; member of the Laval Amateur Astronomers Club since 2008; member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada since 2010 and an Astronomy Ambassador for it since 2015.

I have also been a member of the now-defunct e-toiles Astronomy Club in Pointe-Claire, Lunatics astronomy club in Hudson, and Orion Astronomy Club in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

I have been the main presenter at National Geographic ObservÉtoiles, the world’s first exterior augmented-reality planetarium, near Sutton (Québec) from its opening in 2018 to 2021.

I have been a subject matter expert for the Aurora|360 Experience in Whitehorse (Yukon) for its three flights to the lights in 2017, 2019, and 2020. Observing and chasing northern lights from a Boeing 737, operated by Air North, is an amazing experience!

The history of astronomy is a more recent (2015–…) interest of mine, which brought me to translate Ptolemy’s Almagest to French; it is freely available at my website EcliptiQc.

I have been working as a graphic artist for a private company in Vaudreuil-Dorion for the past 15+ years and have been working in the graphics industry for the past 25+ years, previous years being spent in various print shops.
