Daniel Blackmore is an English footballer who plays for New Jersey college side Saint Peter's Peacocks of Saint Peter's University.

Blackmore came through the youth system at Eastbourne Borough and made his first team debut as a substitute in a victory over Hungerford Town on 10 November 2018. He joined Langney Wanderers on a dual registration with Boro in July 2019 where he enjoyed a fruitful spell.

In June 2021, Blackmore left Eastbourne for the States to work for a degree at Saint Peter's University in New Jersey while developing his football playing for their soccer team Saint Peter's Peacocks.

Career

Eastbourne Borough

2018–2019

Blackmore signed for the Eastbourne Borough senior team on 1 July 2018, promoting him from the youth team.[4] He made his debut for Eastbourne against Hungerford Town on 10 November 2018, coming on as a substitute replacing Sergio Torres in the 90th minute. Borough won 3–1 at Priory Lane.[5] Blackmore made his first start and second appearance for The Sports where they lost 2–0 away to Billericay Town on 16 February 2019.[6]

In April 2019, Blackmore signed a new one year contract extension with the Sussex club.[7]

2019–2020: Dual Registraction with Langney Wanderers

On 26 July 2019, it was announced that Blackmore had signed with Langney Wanderers of the Southern Combition Premier Divison on a dual registration with Eastbourne. He made an appearance in a 8–3 victory against Littlehampton Town on the same day where he came away with two assists in the pre–season friendly.[8] He made his official debut for the ninth tier side on 3 August, netting twice in a 5–1 home victory over Broadbridge Heath.[9] He made his FA Cup debut a week later, starting in the 2–0 away loss to Hassocks in the extra prelimary round.[10] He made 22 appearances in all competitions scoring four times during his spell at Eastbourne's ground share club, Langney Wanderers.[11]

Blackmore made four appearances for Boro throughout the campaign which all came after the turn of the year, including coming on as a substitute in a 1–0 away loss against Sailsbury in the FA Trophy and and making three substitute league appearances, one of those coming in a 1–1 home draw against Billericay.[12][13]

The league was suspended indefinitely in April 2020 due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.[14]

2020–21

On 7 August 2020, Eastbourne announced on their twitter page that Blackmore had signed a contract for the forthcoming season.[15] Blackmore appeared on the bench in Eastbourne's first ever FA Cup first round tie in which they lost 3–0 at home to League One outfit Blackpool on 8 November.[16] He remained an unused subsitute.[17] Blackmore made nine appearances for Boro, the most he has made in any season in his three years in the senior side as the season was ended prematurely for a second year running as a result of Coronavirus.[18]

It was announced on 16 June 2021 that Blackmore alongside James Vaughan and Matt Pickering were heading to the United States, with Blackmore making the move to New Jersey to earn a degree at Saint Peter's University while playing for their soccer team Saint Peter's Peacocks.[19]

With the announcement that Blackmore joining Saint Peter's Peacocks to allow his football to develop while earning a degree in sports management at the college, Boro manager Danny Bloor told the Sussex club's website about the departing players, "all three of these lads are still Eastbourne Borough players in my opinion" stating that he won't be surprised to see them back at Priory Lane.[20][21]

Sussex

At county level Blackmore has represented Sussex where he was the captain for the under-18 side. He was a regular for Sussex, including playing in the 6–1 away thrashing of London on 7 October 2018.[22]
