Bradley Luca Brand Clayton (born 2 July 1997) is an English semi-professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Southern League Premier Division South club Chesham United. He is a product of the Brentford academy.

Career

Brentford

Clayton began his youth career in the Brentford Centre of Excellence at the age of 9 and was a part of the U15 team which emerged victorious in the Junior category at the 2012 Milk Cup.[3][4][5] He did not sign a scholarship deal and instead remained with the club on a schoolboy contract until he completed his education.[3][6] Clayton was a key player for the youth team during the 2013–14 and 2014–15 seasons,[7] scoring 20 goals in 38 appearances and he was invited by manager Mark Warburton to train with the first team squad in September 2014.[8][9][10] Clayton also broke into the Development Squad during the 2014–15 season and scored four goals in 18 appearances.[11]

Clayton signed a two-year Development Squad contract in June 2015 and would sign a further one-year contract to remain with the club until the end of the 2017–18 season.[3][12] He was released in June 2018 and made 99 appearances and scored 25 goals during his time with the Brentford development teams.[5][13]

Chesham United

In mid-August 2018, Clayton joined Southern League Premier Division South club Chesham United on a free transfer.[14] He made 40 appearances and scored eight goals during the 2018–19 season and signed a new one-year contract in July 2019.[15][16] The 2021–22 season proved to be Clayton's most prolific in front of goal yet, with 26 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions.[17] His performances won him the club's Players' Player of the Year award.[17] Clayton was retained for the 2022–23 season and he made 30 appearances and scored seven goals during a season which concluded with defeat in the Premier Division South playoff semi-finals.[18][19] Injuries.[20]

Injury return December.[21]

Representative career

In April 2019, Clayton was called into an FA XI squad for a match against the Bedfordshire FA and he scored in a 3–2 victory.[22][23]
