I don't expect to make many edits. I was once quite active here (under a different account) but I have conflicted feelings about Wikipedia. These days, if I make changes, it's only because the following three conditions are generally met:
- A topic's wiki entry is a top hit from the major search engines,
- The topic has little other readily available info from other websites, and
- Its page here is missing (or has incorrect) information.
I always cite my edits. I personally believe that edits without citation are useless, which is part of my conflict over Wikipedia's role in diffusing knowledge.
I prefer to use WebCite for a permanent archive, but if there is a better service, feel free to recommend it.
If you don't like an edit I made, just unwind it, don't bother talking to me about it, unless you think there's something helpful I can learn and take the time to politely explain it. But if you just post some rule or a one sentence "please [do what I think is right based on my reading of this rule]" on my talk page, I will flame you to Hades. I don't have time for Wikipedia geeks who live on here, have 200+ talk pages on their accounts, and spend all their time "correcting" arcane edits on Wikipedia. I took the time to make a change in good faith—time I donated—so be grateful; not a rule nit. If you really can't bear to see my edit, revert it quietly, as I doubt I'll even notice it.
