Output in texts copied verbatim from French Wikipedia

French Wikipedia uses template {{Numéro|x}} to output "nº x" (where "x" is normally a number): fr:Modèle:Numéro. If an author copies text (title of a reference, etc.) verbatim from French Wikipedia into English Wikipedia, eg. when translating an article, and fails to notice the presence of that template or is not aware of the different output, the output changes to "#" and the number is lost. Is there anything that should and can be done about it, except manually replacing the French-sourced template with "nº"? 84.69.182.103 (talk) 14:52, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Came across this while posting the notice below. Numéro should redirect instead to {{Numero}}, if there are no objections. If you look at transcluding pages using {{Numéro}} they appear to all be French translations. The Manual of Style prefers "No." to "#" or "№". Rjjiii (talk) 16:45, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion regarding image use

There is a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Templates#Images in templates regarding how to handle templates that were created to insert images of typographic characters. These characters are now available via Unicode. Please comment there if interested, Rjjiii (talk) 16:06, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
