Add this template instead of adding individual links to "See also" sections

@StevenSuperstar: I see you've been adding various links to LGBT social networking services to articles. Instead of expanding "See also" sections, can you add this template? Links in the "See also" section are not necessary if they appear in the navigation template. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:22, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Another Believer: Noted, but I think a lot of the "See also" sections could still use a link to "List of LGBT social networking services", because the template is pretty far down the page and not very intuitive for readers wanting to do more research... ---StevenSuperstar (talk) 17:52, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
StevenSuperstar, Per Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Lists#Related_topics_(navigational_lists), "As a general rule, the "See also" section should not repeat links that appear in the article's body or its navigation boxes." ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:53, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Another Believer: While that manual entry does state (in semi fine print) that "See also" sections shouldn't repeat links that appear in its navigation templates, it primarily encourages the appending of lists in articles' "See also" sections, especially when such lists/links would help readers. You will notice that navigation templates do not appear on mobile versions of Wikipedia, only desktop versions. So I think that adding a link to "List of LGBT social networking services" in these services' "See also" sections would be useful and pretty important, given that navigation templates aren't easily found and arguably only help advanced Wikipedia readers who are using the desktop site. ---StevenSuperstar (talk) 16:44, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Separating between app-based and Web-based services

I think it's a useful distinction to make... ---StevenSuperstar (talk) 17:48, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Links to services that do not have existing Wikipedia pages

Would it be useful for readers if we added links to popular LGBT social networking services like Hornet, Growlr, MR X, and Daddyhunt to the template, which don't have Wikipedia pages yet but do have significant user bases? ---StevenSuperstar (talk) 18:00, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

StevenSuperstar, Only subjects with Wikipedia articles should be added to the template. ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:54, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Another Believer Ok fair, but I think adding them to "List of LGBT social networking services" would be useful and necessary. So I'll do that momentarily. ---StevenSuperstar (talk) 22:20, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
