Redirects

Can the template be amended to omit redirects from its results? This is an important distinction from actual articles that should be made.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 14:55, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@TriiipleThreat: I have just amended the code to detect redirects. Hope you like it. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:28, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Works great! Thanks.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 13:35, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not appearing in mainspace talk

  1. I installed the script, refreshed my cache, and when I went to Talk:Example, I did not see the template saying a draft was found.
  2. Also, is there a way for this to show in the mainspace for an uncreated article (Jessica Jones (TV series) to alert all editors that a draft is being developed (Draft:Jessica Jones (TV series)? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 01:28, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Favre1fan93: Regarding (1), this seems to be working now. Regarding (2) I think this is an excellent idea. I suspect the relevant template to change is Template:No article text. If you wanted to pursue this idea, perhaps WP:VPR is the way to go. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:32, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 7 March 2020

Please sync changes from Template:Draft article check/sandbox.

I've implemented the mainspace article existence check functionality for userspace - it's the same as how it works for draftspace, with the difference that by default the {{SUBPAGENAME}} is considered rather than {{PAGENAME}}. (This makes sense for userspace: eg. for User:SD0001/Barack Obama, the PAGENAME is "SD0001/Barack Obama" while SUBPAGENAME is "Barack Obama".)

So, if I'm drafting User:SD0001/Barack Obama and I include {{draft article}} (in which {{draft article check}} is transcluded), I'd get the message "There is already an article named Barack Obama in the mainspace."

This has been tested. SD0001 (talk) 09:20, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
