"native English speaker"

I'd like to change this phrase to focus on the content of the article, rather than speculating on the early language experiences of the author(s). This is highly presumptous, misleading, and a little bit offensive to boot. Some non-native English speakers speak and write better English than I do, and I write better Spanish than some native Spanish speakers I know. Wouldn't we be better served to reference the grammar or phrasing rather than the native language(s) of the author(s)? Cleduc 18:10, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since a week went by and nobody objected, I figured it would be fair to make this template change. I decided to stress the competence in written English. Cleduc 01:43, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

Is this template really any different than Template:Copyedit? -- Beland 13:27, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not that I can tell. Except maybe in the degree of incomprehensibility of the article... those machine-translated pieces beggar sanity. Cleduc 14:50, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I expect articles tagged either way will vary wildly in quality. I'll redirect this new one to the older one for now. This will also solve a Pearle-related problem. -- Beland 21:02, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
