Victor Despeignes

  • ... that Victor Despeignes was the first to use X-rays to treat cancer? from [1] François-Victor Despeignes, a French physician with significant contribution in public hygiene, was the first who had applied the irradiation treatment against malignant tumours.

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: No - Yes the hook is cited but I'm not sure it is correct. This page from a reliable source says "Just weeks later, Emil Grubbé, a student doctor in Chicago, became the first person to use of radiation to treat cancer." This source states it isn't exactly known but Grubbé possibly did it in Jan 1896 while Despeignes did it in July 1896. Whats clear though, is that the exact person is not defiantly known, so therefore it shouldn't be a DYK hook.
  • Interesting: Yes
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Is there maybe another hook that could be used? — Yellow Dingo (talk) 04:59, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

  • I'm happy with ALT2. ALT1 would also ok but I don't think it is as interesting as ALT 2. — Yellow Dingo (talk) 00:33, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
