Death in the West

  • ... that the film Death in the West contains what is believed to be the first recorded admission from a tobacco company representative that smoking causes health problems?
  • ALT1: ... that tobacco company Phillip Morris obtained a court order preventing the film Death in the West from being aired on television?
  • ALT2: ... that a tobacco company representative being interviewed in the documentary film Death in the West compares the health risks from cigarettes to over-consumption of apple sauce?

  • Date and length are fine, both hooks are cited, no apparent close paraphrasing, article is NPOV, QPQ is done. My only concern is that many facts in the article are cited to sciencecorruption.com which looks somewhat dodgy to me and is probably not a reliable source. 97198 (talk) 09:28, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
  • @97198, ping :) I've since removed all references to that website (None of the hooks relied on sciencecorruption.com, I just used it to flesh out the article a bit and as a secondary reference for some information) replacing where possible with more established sources. I have submitted an enquiry to WP:RSN to establish if the source is reliable for the a paragraph I removed from the article that relied entirely on it; I will not add it back unless RSN determines that it is reliable. I hope this resolves this issue and that the article can now be passed. Freikorp (talk) 03:15, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Comment. Considering there are no issues with any of the hooks themselves my preference is actually for ALT2, as I think it is the most interesting. Freikorp (talk) 13:14, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks, it's a shame that some of the content had to be removed but the sourcing looks a lot better now. All three hooks are good to go; I think the original hook and ALT2 are the most interesting. 97198 (talk) 12:19, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
  • ALT2 is very hooky, but that's not what it says in the source. He doesn't compare the two, he just gives an off-the-cuff remark about too much applesauce also being unhealthy. Yoninah (talk) 17:59, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah, ping :) Fair enough. Perfectly happy for the original hook to be used instead. Thanks. Freikorp (talk) 23:57, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
  • I agree, it's not an explicit comparison but rather an implied one - I've struck ALT2 to be safe, since the source can be interpreted differently. The original hook (or ALT1) is still good to go. 97198 (talk) 01:35, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
