Conrad Glass

Conrad Glass in London, 2009

  • Comment: Hook is sourced to The Guardian, dated January 13, 2010.

Created by Somebody Stop Me (talk). Nominated by Revent (talk) at 18:40, 23 June 2014 (UTC).

  • By way of information, the article's creator Somebody Stop Me was blocked as a sock of Russavia, within minutes of this nomination. Creator was not the nominator. — Maile (talk) 20:37, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Leaving aside the silly shenanigans involving this article, the article itself is quite decent. It's new enough, long enough and reliably sourced, and the subject is interesting and notable enough. However, the hook fact isn't entirely substantiated - Glass is cited as being "coy" about when he last arrested someone and says merely that he had not had to use the island's sole holding cell during his time in the job. This isn't the same as saying that he hasn't arrested anyone in that time. Given the circumstances of the nomination, I'm therefore going to substitute the hook above with the one below without referring back to the now-blocked creator. • ALT1: ... that that in over two decades as Tristan da Cunha's only police officer, Conrad Glass (pictured) has never had to put anyone in a holding cell?

Let me suggest

  • ALT2: ... that in over two decades as Tristan da Cunha's only police officer, Conrad Glass (pictured) says he has never put anyone in the island's sole holding cell?

  • I lean toward ALT1 as sounding better, but please feel free to disagree with me. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 00:43, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Yeah, I prefer ALT1 too. Legoktm (talk) 06:06, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
