For starters, many surnames here are redirects which have been categorized as such. Inclusively, WP:RDR and WP:CAT-R is not against such categorization. Why would this one be pointless? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 20:32, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What are you talking about? More to the fact, Zippe is a redirect to Zipp, so any question here is a moot point. --Human.v2.0 (talk) 20:35, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I simply want to understand what the point of the category here is ... all I ask is a courteous response giving me the reason ... the fact that it does no harm, or that other redirects do it, is not a god enough reason. Abtract (talk) 20:59, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Abtract, it is possible that someone may be looking for a certain name in Category:Given names or Category:Surnames (which may have been redirected) so there is nothing "pointless" in helping them by adding the names to the respective categories. The guidelines do not disapprove of categorizing name redirects. Harrisson, Díaz, Pullein, and Maccoll are all name redirects that have been categorized. Again, what is wrong with this? I've replaced the catagory based on the precedent mentioned by Sesshomaru above. --Human.v2.0 (talk) 21:34, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for a full, understandable and polite reply. Abtract (talk) 21:39, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
