Note to admins wandering through

The primary source of content dispute here seems to be among fans of the article subject vs. those of Jessica Nabongo. Both women claim a 'first to do' title, both seem to have engaged in UPE. Valereee (talk) 13:02, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

question

Are you saying Valereee was paid to create a page for Woni Spotts? Universalsunset (talk) 23:48, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, @Universalsunset, not following...is who saying that, and where? FTR, no, I haven't been paid to create this article and have no COI whatsoever. There have been paid contributors in the past, to the previous article that was deleted, but none of those edits were by me. Valereee (talk) 11:35, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, do you mean the sentence in the headers that says If you are a subject of this article, or acting on behalf of one, and you need help, please see this help page.? That's typical on any page that has had COI editing. Valereee (talk) 11:37, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The comment "both seem to have engaged in UPE." I'm trying to understand. I'm not accusing the person making the comment. I know the pro-Nabongo crew will never let this page stand. They will say it's a one-time event, not notable, not verified, etc. It will be removed at some point for some reason. Universalsunset (talk) 13:29, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Based on the journal article, the Uproxx article, and the Pride article, they'll have a hard time getting it deleted. Those are three instances of significant coverage in independent reliable sources, and that's what we need. Valereee (talk) 14:09, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Another article mentioning Woni Spotts https://www.mirror.co.uk/ Universalsunset (talk) 16:33, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's just to their main page? I found one article that is mostly about Nabongo from March, is that the one you mean? Valereee (talk) 16:40, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Sorry. https://www.mirror.co.uk/travel/news/im-first-black-woman-visit-29542683
This article says Jessica Nabongo is first and Woni Spotts is unverified, That is a clear case of libel because Jessica was clearly listed as second (at the time of the article) on Wikipedia. The writer never checked Woni Spotts' information. A group of travelers reported it to Mirror.UK. Now, Mirror UK is asking to do an article on Spotts to make amends. Spotts is demanding more than an article. Universalsunset (talk) 17:11, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't concern us here. If/when there's an article on Spotts, we can update. Where is she saying she's demanding 'more than an article'? Valereee (talk) 18:00, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's being discussed in a private group, not in the article. Universalsunset (talk) 18:07, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, FWIW, no one should be using Wikipedia as evidence of anything in court. No judge will accept it, and no competent lawyer should be suggesting it. Valereee (talk) 18:12, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I understand but she says she provided solid proof to Mirror UK. They should have at least contacted Spotts before calling her unverified. Now, they have to correct their mistakes. Universalsunset (talk) 18:17, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia doesn't care, and this is WP:NOTAFORUM for discussing it. Valereee (talk) 18:20, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hidden History Museum

This article mentions Woni Spotts being inducted into the Hidden History Museum in Los Angeles founded Tariq Nasheed. https://www.voice-online.co.uk/news/world-news/2023/04/27/spott-of-travelling/#comment-97907 Universalsunset (talk) 13:29, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hm...Hidden History Museum maybe needs an article? It's only just opened, just over a month ago. But it does seem to have coverage from outside the local area. She wasn't 'inducted' into anything, the source says they have a display. Not sure it's worth a mention yet. This feels like PR, honestly. Valereee (talk) 13:48, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I started a draft and the museum isn't ready for prime time yet. Coverage appears to be primarily generated from press releases, with a single article that might actually be original. Valereee (talk) 14:03, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'm happy I asked. I mentioned she was in the museum and I was asked if there was proof. That's the proof. Universalsunset (talk) 16:31, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
