Yo-Yo Ma

This article from the city of winchester web site gives some insight into Yo Yo Ma's time in Winchester (1981 - 1993). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhaggs (talkcontribs) 20:28, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A description of the town government would be very useful to residents. What is the town meeting? When is it and who are the people who are elected to go to it? What do the selectmen do exactly? 129.55.27.4 20:41, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dump vs. transfer station

It is a dump, not a transfer station. There is a big difference. Dupms are way messier. Take one look at it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oddjoker54 (talkcontribs) 00:46, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

With the exception of leaves and brush, which are composted at the site, the town transfers the trash and recyclables to another location, where it is either burned or recycled. A true "dump" would dispose of the trash at that location. 129.55.27.4 17:46, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Horn Pond Brook

Winchester also has a brook called Horn Pond Brook which runs from Horn Pond in Woburn approximately 3 miles to Wedge Pond in Winchester. This one should be included in the list of town waters along with the Aberjona River. It used to contain many species of fish including the brown trout which was stocked in Horn Pond. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.97.152.176 (talk) 12:54, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clean up of the town dump

Hello:

I tried to clean up the section on the town dump, noting that although it is a transfer station, it is still called 'the dump' by the locals because of tradition.

Why were Childrens Own School and St Marys Removed?

Why were these two educational institutions removed from the article? Shall I revert them back into the article? --Allyn 06:52, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is the Post Office a Town Service

Should the Post Office be considered a Town Service? I notice that it is listed in the Town Services section; I have not removed it; I just want to get opinions here as to whether it should be here in Town Services as it is Federal (U.S. Government).

Eli Bortman

Anon, saying "I believe he is notable" doesn't constitute demonstrating his notability. My usual guideline in pruning "notable residents" lists is to remove someone if they aren't notable enough to already have a Wikipedia article about them. Not only is there no Wikipedia article about Bortman, but there isn't even one that mentions him. And the reason that "if it's just a difference of opinion" my opinion prevails is that you're the one who's making a positive claim that something should be included in the article—'Bortman is notable enough to be listed here'—and the burden of proof is upon you; Wikipedia policy is in favor of excluding assertions that aren't well-supported, not including them. Remove the advertisement for the new blackhorse tavern.

using Wikipedia to promote bad restaurant —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.198.252.93 (talk) 02:44, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have left in a mention of the restaurant since there's some historical context for it, but took out the promotional details. —Tim Pierce (talk) 03:32, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reads like it was written by the Winchester Chamber of Commerce

I am not entirely neutral on the subject; I grew up in Winchester. My edit was light. A more thorough edit is needed. JSFarman (talk) 19:33, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
