Comment by user 63.204.104.168 01:19, 9 December 2005, moved here. I question this statement that appears in paragraph 10 of this article:

"Godbe remained in Salt Lake City in spite of being a social outcast both from Latter-day Saints and from non-Mormons alarmed with his continued practice of polygamy."

William S. Godbe famously (at least in his community) gave up polygamy at the request of Charlotte Cobb, whom he married as his fifth wife. He divorced all but his first wife, Annie. Godbe continued to support his former wives and all his children, but he abandoned polygamy. Because of his criticism of Brigham Young his family was ostracized, not because he continued to practice polygamy, which he did not.

Hampton C. Godbe wrote a definitive biography of William S. Godbe, which can be found in the Hampton C. Godbe Papers (Ms 664), University of Utah Marriott Library, Manuscripts Division. Civil Engineer III 19:26, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree and would change it if it wasn't for the fact that findagrave is a wiki type page. I have looked in the utah bural datebase and he isn't listed at all. Do you have a non-wiki type page to cite?--ARTEST4ECHO (talk) 15:09, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
