Verification notes

Appears to have existed. Verified the name of the mother and father. Both have articles at fr. wiki. Name of mistress appears in some online genealogies, indicating that such a person existed; still working on the relationship. Elinruby (talk) 13:34, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Blatant hoax Starship 24 (talk) 20:17, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Amatus was indeed a bishop of Toul. Saint-Georges-d'Espéranche existed and did belong to the counts of Savoy.Elinruby (talk) 13:40, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

John I of Chalon existed, was indeed a member of the House of Ivrea, and did have a daughter named Agnes who married William III of Geneva. Albanais existed, the Chateau de Charousse existed. Will continue to verify carefully but if there is a hoax here it's pretty subtle, and I am not seeing it so far. Elinruby (talk) 15:10, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Matthieu de la Corbière exists and has written books about medieval Geneva. No wikipedia page though apparently Elinruby (talk) 09:09, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Guichard VI de Beaujeu has a wikidata page but no article in any language. French-language article is well sourced, and the source I have looked at so far has an extensive discussion of these events. Still working on that. (Mémoires et Documents Publiés par la Société D'Histoire et D'Arcéologie) Elinruby (talk) 16:56, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Verified and referenced the mistress and illegitimate son. Some of the war history is a bit intricate, with shifting alliances, and property exchanges. Still working on this but I need a bit of a break Elinruby (talk) 12:44, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The same person is writing this which is leading me to believe that it is the same person who wrote this article just on a different or possibly same account. S40052650 (talk) 20:49, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Many editors contributed to this article before Elin started working on it. Don't make accusations against other editors without very strong evidence, unless you really want to get blocked. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 20:56, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It was listed as a translation in need of cleanup and that is where I encountered it. I did work on it in several separate sessions, yes, as I don't have a dog in this fight and was basically working on it pro bono. If there *is* a hoax I think it must be in the section about the land transfers, as I had had enough of it the article by the time I got there. Not saying there isn't a hoax, but I didn't find one, the French keep fantastic records, and I documented what i checked, in case anyone wants to go into it further. My current availability for this is very minimal.Elinruby (talk) 05:01, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
