Untitled

"It was formerly considered to be two species, with the southern and western nominate subspecies, R. t. tucanus, named as the Red-billed Toucan, and the northern and eastern subspecies, R. t. cuvieri, as the Cuvier's Toucan (when considered a species; R. cuvieri, Wagler, 1827)."

This is incorrect. The Red-billed Toucan is the northern and eastern subspecies and Cuvier's Toucan is the southern and western subspecies. The Red-billed Toucan occurs in Northern Colombia, the Guianas and Eastern Brazil. Cuvier's Toucan occurs in Southern Colombia, Eastern Ecuador, Eastern Peru, Eastern Bolivia and Western Brazil.
