Their trip was sponsored by CCI Learning, a Microsoft and Certiport Partner. On Aug. 10 in Dallas, Texas, Taylor competed against the best students from more than 130 countries worldwide. During the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship awards ceremony, it was announced that Taylor had the second best Microsoft Excel score in the world.

After getting the blessings from the local health authority as well as Worksafe BC, the event happened October 29 with 20 students and two teachers from Westview Secondary School in Maple Ridge. The project involved chairs that could easily be assembled from flat parts cut from engineered wood panels.

Over four weeks, the course will deal with the challenges facing those who wish to begin cooking and eating healthy: where to begin, what to do and how to shop. Beginning Feb. 9 at Westview secondary school in Maple Ridge, a cook and registered dietician will host three cooking and nutrition sessions, and teach students how to read food labels. Many different menu items are offered, and participants in the course should walk away with new skills and practical advice.
