um, looking at the bottom two photos (supposedly of the snowball cultivar), the leaf shape looks completely wrong for viburnum opulus?

The bottom two photos show a Viburnum plicatum cultivar, Japanese Snowball Bush. 62.113.159.156 21:59, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ediblility

In the Cultivation section it says: "The fruit is edible in small quantities, with a very acidic taste; it can be used to make jelly. It is however very mildly toxic, and may cause vomiting or diarrhea if eaten in large amounts (Plants for a Future). This can be reduced by drying the bark first." This confuses me, it starts out talking about the berries, but then refers to drying the bark. What gives? Murderbike (talk) 03:15, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, Murderbike. That is confusing (and, I think, misleading). I removed that last sentence from the para and fixed the dead link to the Plants for a Future page, which mentions all kinds of things about the dried bark, but no relationship of drying bark to detoxifying the berries. Statement requires expansion or deletion

"Chervona Kalyna was the anthem of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army." This statement appears to be a bit of an orphan and the significance / relevance of this song is unclear. Perhaps one of these words is the Ukrainian name for the plant?Senor Freebie (talk) 00:29, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kalinka
