GA Review

  • Images: Copyright tags DO NOT check out. Image:Corbata roja.jpg claims PD-released but is clearly from a commercial organization, not the uploader. In fact, I'll just stop there. every image is claimed PD by the uploader but the source information clearly disputes that claim. A trip to TUTV's website shows that they claim copyright over the website content at least. It's a public broadcasting affiliate, but that doesn't make their work PD. I also note similar image deletion warnings placed on the primary editor's talk page.

I'm going to fail this article solely on this issue. Please bring this article back to GA when the images have the proper copyright tag. I'm sorry. Protonk (talk) 04:35, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Each and everyone of these images was provided to me by Montilla himself, as per my request. He has images at his disposal and has given permission to the reproduction and distribution of such images. Is there somewhere I can submit his permission/approval for the use of these images?   • Absolutely! Wikipedia has a few different methods to do this. The process is described broadly in Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Basically you can either get Montilla to email his consent (to you) to use the photos with a Wikipedia:CONSENT form. Then you can follow the instructions below to ensure that the foundation has a record of the permission. Alternately, you can have Montilla contact the foundation directly and sumbit the photos himself. This will take longer but the eventual outcome is the same. Lastly, you can have him or TUTV host the images on a website and place a GFDL license on the website declaring the photos to be released under the GFDL.
  • If you don't want to do any of that, you can treat these images as property of TUTV and make a fair use exception for them in wikipedia. If you upload a new version of each file you will be shown a menu that will let you select "copyrighted/fair use" as the status of the photos. I hope this helps! I'm sorry about the article. Failing a GA review doesn't mean the article is bad or that your contributions are not worthwhile. It just means that it isn't up to GA standards yet (none of my articles are, either). Remember, less than 1/2% of all wikipedia articles are Good articles. Once the image issue is resovled, we can resumbit the article and see how it does. Here are some things to fix before the article gets promoted to GA:

  • Quite a few of the references need to be formatted with Template:cite web.
  • The lead needs to summarize all the main points of the article.
