Ukhra

Ukhra is a census town in Andal (community development block), as per Serial No. 237 of Towns/ Villages in the Bardhaman district section of 2011 census data and also the Map of CD Block Ondal on Page 229 of District Census Handbook for Bardhaman District. - Chandan Guha (talk) 00:56, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ukhra/Nagarukhra

There seems to be some dispute about whether the name should be Ukhra or Nagarukhra, but Google Maps shows two different places fairly close to each other a little north of Kolkata. Here is Ukhra. and here is Nagarukhra (with a misleading "Quick facts" section obtained via the old Wikipedia redirect)

Information about Ukhra should go in this article, Ukhra, and information about Nagarukhra should go in the article Nagarukhra. I suggest people concentrate on getting the two articles accurate and well sourced rather than fighting about it and redirecting things all different ways.

I'm watching both articles and I will take action if I see any disruption. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:05, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • There is also a third place, the village Ukrah, which I have not found on a Google Maps search, and which looks like it has possibly been the source of the dispute. All three appear to be distinct places which appear to warrant their own individual Wikipedia articles. I'll investigate further when I have the time. Update

Folks, at the moment it looks like there are several distinct entities here, Ukrah (covered in the 2011 census) and Nagarukhra (which I haven't found in the census but which is shown on [1] Google Maps). This is also complicated by the existence of this Ukhra which is further away. I think it needs further investigation, and I'll try to help with that when I have the time. But for now, please do your best to provide reliable sources for the contents of the disputed articles, and please don't try deleting the one you disagree with.
