Inappropriate first-person tone and "I am an eyewitness to this collision" need to be addressed.

Appears to be addressed. April-2018. Very well written - but lack citations. Doubt such exist - I expect this is first hand experience of a former crew member. I will recommend they perhaps identify them self by name, rank, years of service Wfoj3 (talk) 00:01, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Responsibility for a USN ship in a shipyard

I have deleted "The responsibility for the safe mooring of a ship during repair lies with the shipyard." Not correct; ref NAVREGS Sec. 700.871 (a): "The commanding officer of a naval station or shipyard shall be responsible for the care and safety of all ships and craft at such station or shipyard not under a commanding officer or assigned to another authority..." (Emphasis mine). White Plains' CO was responsible for the ship. He was responsible "to request such services as are necessary to ensure the safety of the ship. The commanding officer of the naval station or shipyard shall be responsible for providing requested services in a timely and adequate manner." Old CDR (talk) 06:54, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Strait of Malacca incident

I have deleted "collision was imminent, and the call went to man the life boat stations." Not a chance. The USN does not prepare to abandon undamaged ships. If there was any "call," it would have been the sounding of the collision alarm or the general quarters alarm.
