Update to SS Benson maiden voyage
My father Paul Andrew Kunkel was on the maiden voyage of the Admiral Benson.
it was on this trip that they stopped in Australia and that they picked up the Chinese.
dad had personal antidotes about both. I have his 1942 penny from Australia.
He volunteered to work in the kitchen so he could have three meals a day instead of two.
he also talked about their zigzag path to avoid detection and about the two ships that escorted them throughout the long journey.
he was with the Army Aircorp - signal Corp in Calcutta until wars end. Kunkel1963 (talk) 12:09, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
