Irish / Irish-American categorisation

This article is currently tagged with Irish linkage but the article itself does not say anything on the subject. Before it is assessed it for WP Ireland, could someone add something to support the linkage to the article? Thanks. SeoR (talk) 15:22, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Someone needs to edit or revise the reference to the Americal Division as a platoon responsible for the My Lai massacre. A division is a large army unit of 10,000 men or more. A platoon is a small army unit of about 40 men. Lieutenant William Calley, the U.S. Army officer court martialed for the murder of Vietnamese civilians at My Lai was the commander of a platoon within the Americal Division. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.132.204.134 (talk) 09:59, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Neutral on first move, Oppose second irrespective of the merits of the Vietnam war author some justification in Google News, the name list should remain at full name spelling. All these Tims are Timothys, and the Timothys are not Tims. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:12, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • It was, however, moved to an incorrect spelling by the nominator. I have moved it back and adjusted the nomination. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:19, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose both. There are more than one notable people with either version of the name (Tim or Timothy O'Brien) and it should not be presumed that this person is more notable than the others. Kablammo (talk) 15:56, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Btw I accidentally screwed up by manually moving the dab page, which was originally titled Tim O'Brien, maybe it should get moved back for now.--Prisencolin (talk) 23:08, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Academic omissions

I'm surprised that there is no mention of O'Brien at Bread Loaf Writers' Conference -- or anywhere else he taught writing. I can attest that he was on staff there in 1988, because I sat in on one of his classes. -- llywrch (talk) 21:20, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
