Etymology

The phrase "Three Pillars of ..." probably refers to some common idiom, or familar phrase, otherwise I doubt it would have been used. Does anyone know what is the origin of this phrase? Nyh (talk) 11:41, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

More important that the term's etymology is its meaning which isn't explained in the article. Pillar has a concrete meaning as well as a loose, metaphorical one, but these EU-institutions are much more substantial than that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.189.103.145 (talk) 09:47, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Error: Asylum is not under the first pillar

The field of asylum was under the Pillar "Justice and Home Affairs" : https://europa.eu/european-union/sites/europaeu/files/docs/body/treaty_on_european_union_en.pdf#page=133 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.165.166.46 (talk) 14:59, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
