Single cover

Hi! I have uploaded a non-free album cover art, File:Katy Perry - This Is How We Do (Official Single Cover).png. It might not be taken from a reliable sourced website, but I am 100% sure it is the official, it is found on her Instagram, Josepvinaixa and the lyric video cover. Not official? Just in case you guys don't know, Josepvinaixa may not be a reliable source, BUT it ALWAYS upload official single covers. Nahnah4 | Any thoughts? @SNUGGUMS, Livelikemusic, Chasewc91, IPadPerson, Kww, Arre 9, and Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: What you guys think? Music editors and experienced editors, ideas here! Nahnah4 | Any thoughts? Pen 'em down here! | No Editcountitis! 14:39, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I checked her Instagram, but she doesn't explicitly say that is the official cover. For now, it can't be included. SNUGGUMS (talk · contribs) 14:42, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Nahnah4:, it is your onus to prove that Josepvinaixa is a reliable provider which you deny yourself. And the artist did not say that this is the official cover, so basically you are basing it on your own judgement and thereby failing both WP:V as well as WP:OR. Sorry, but such an addition cannot be accepted and this is why it has been removed. Again the keyword here is that you say it's official, but you are not a reliable source. —Indian:BIO · [ ChitChat ] 14:48, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@IndianBio and SNUGGUMS: Oh my god, this is killing me. I am keeping the file first, and if it IS the real cover, you guys will be sorry. It is official. It is. Common sense is no longer common, so. Nahnah4 | Any thoughts? Pen 'em down here! | No Editcountitis! 14:50, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing to be so frustrated about. And the hostility is not needed. You are violating WP:OR policy of Wikipedia by claiming an image as official, when there is no reliable source calling it so. Simple to understand isn't it? —Indian:BIO · [ ChitChat ] 14:54, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I understand it. That is what I am trying to say, but I am very sure that this cover is official. I tried to go to Capitol Record's website, but there are no search bars or covers and that website sucked, so I gave up. In WP, a lot of unofficial covers are going around. I know that, just that I did not explain that to the uploader, as I am usually lazy. Okay, I know I am violating wiki rules, and that is unacceptable for an autoconfirmed user who has half a year of experience. Half a year. Yeah. So it should not be surprising that I am not actually very well with wiki policies, except MOS#Soundtrack. Sorry, but in conclusion, the cover should be official and I will keep it till sources will verify it. Nahnah4 | Any thoughts? Pen 'em down here! | No Editcountitis! 15:01, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You cannot keep an orphaned content more than seven days. It will be automatically deleted. If you continue to revert the {{orphan}} tag, I'm afraid then administrative intervention might be taken. I suggest you refrain from trying to keep the image until an official source comes for the cover art. —Indian:BIO · [ ChitChat ] 15:04, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Nahnah4: It's now tagged as unlicensed and there were previous versions of the file that were/are also in this condition. I suggest you should provide an understandable rationale. IPadPerson (|talk:IPadPerson|talk) 15:34, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nahnah4, we can't take a copyrighted image from a website that isn't authorized to host it, and we can't add a cover image to an article until it is verified by a reliable source. You know that. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:35, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(←) Personally, I'm not a fan of the trend of taking "single covers" that come solely from an artist's social media page and don't appear on any retail/streaming outlets. Sometimes (but not always), these covers are just decoration to drum up excitement from fans and don't even end up being used on any official release, which defeats the purpose of including them with the standard single/album cover rationales, as they don't help the reader identify them. I would keep an eye on outlets such as Amazon that might sell imported CD singles, wait for a remix EP to pop up on iTunes, etc., instead of just recklessly including a cover that may not technically be official. –Chase (talk / contribs) 01:44, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@IPadPerson, Chasewc91, Cullen328, and IndianBio: I get it. I will upload a new one or the same file if any sources can be found. Sorry for any inconveniences, and I will find a reliable source for the official cover as soon as possible. Thanks, but once again, I'm still keeping that file in my computer, just in case, it really is the official cover. Thanks, Nahnah4 | Any thoughts? Just so I can put my word in; artworks should only really be taken from actual releases, such as a digital download single off iTunes, Amazon or a promo CD released to radio or whatnot. The artwork that is displayed should be, well, the artwork used in the single/promo single's packaging, just like an album or EP. It's only logical, after all. So far, there is no evidence to suggest that the artwork that was used in earlier revisions of this article is going to be the artwork used for a future single or promo release. When the promo CDs of "This Is How We Do" are distributed on or shortly before August 12, however, then we'll be able to fetch an artwork. If the promos happen to used the artwork that was displayed on the page beforehand, we'll keep the artwork. If it uses a different artwork, I'm sure I or another user will upload that artwork and used it on this page's infobox. PhilipTerryGraham ⡭ ₪ ·o' ⍦ ࿂ 07:16, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I know I'm bringing back an old conversation, but while iTunes only gives cover art for Prism album and Riff-Raff remix, I did notice that Dutch Top 40 uses the pic she posted in Instagram here. Could be worth looking back into. Snuggums (talk / edits) 15:47, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Brillz Remix Cover

File:Katy Perry This Is How We Do Brillz Remix Offical Cover.jpg

Hi~ How about the cover for Brillz Remix. Because that cover is official. Katy also put that cover on her official soundcloud. I think put that cover on the page until they release the cover for original version will be the best idea. U990467 (talk) 13:24, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If no official cover comes for the original mix, this wouldn't be a bad idea. Snuggums (talk / edits) 13:36, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cover for remix featuring Riff Raff

Can we put the cover for rap version on the bottom of infobox? Though it was given by iTunes, it is not the cover for the original version at all... - U990467(talk) 11:27, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@U990467:, thing is it may not be the cover for the original version, but it is the cover art for the remix version which was commercially released for digital downloads. And {{Infobox single}} makes no mention that it has to be the cover for the original version. —Indian:BIO · [ ChitChat ] 12:14, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@IndianBio: There is actually a cover of original version, it was used here - a source for Italian contemporary hit radio release. I think we should swith it. infsai (dyskusja) 09:32, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
