Cut and Paste

Hi. Two issues with what you're attempting to do. First, and foremost, what you are doing is called a "cut and paste" move. That's a big no-no, since it loses the edit history of the page you're redirecting from. What you need to do, since this redirect is blocking you from "moving" the page, is ask an admin to delete the redirect, and then simply "move" the page. However, the second issue is that the song doesn't pass either WP:GNG or WP:NSONG criteria, based on its current incarnation, so both pages should really get redirected to the album. I see. I just don't personally know any admins so I wasn't sure who to approach. Also, I'm curious then - why was the page able to stay up under the wrong name for over 2 years, but is just now being redirected? I would have expected it to be redirected a long time ago. First, you can go to Wikipedia:Administrators, and in the lead paragraph is a link to see which admins are active. Second, regarding staying up for a couple of years. Not unusual. WP is run by volunteers, so lots of stuff floats below the radar, sometimes for over a decade. But when an editor comes upon it, they act. Hope this helps. Also, regarding the article, remember that I said, in "its current incarnation". Lots of times stub articles like these are hastily created, and the subject does actually pass notability guidelines, but the way the article is written and/or sourced doesn't reflect that notability. Check out WP:GNG and WP:NSONG, and see if it does pass either of those guidelines, and you can find sources to back it up. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 19:05, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
