Contest Deletion

I plan on fixing this page, when I first created it it was a work in progress, and I was having to use my own knowledge. The website however, is being updated as we speak (I'm in the same class as the editor), and as they edit I will add sources.

As far as importance goes, the Sentry (while I am not in it) has been at Yorktown for a while, and has been the subject of controversies around the community (these will be added once I have access to the Sentry teacher). It has been at Yorktown since 1962, so obviously it has been relatively successful and in my opinion deserves to be noted. Danielfolsom 16:18, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Actually David there's a full category on Student Run Newspapers - sorry, I figured since you seem to be examining every Wikipedia page I go to (he's sitting next to me in class) that you would notice the category the Sentry was in. [User:Danielfolsom|Danielfolsom]] 16:18, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

There are still a number that are not colleges, before I got to D I counted 3 out of not that many. Don't use your own bias against the school to determine what you want in Wikipedia (or against me)

From notability guidelines: The school has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works, whose sources are independent of the subject itself, including published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, television documentaries, and public reports by schools inspection agencies and consumer watchdog organizations - applying that to school newspapers, you'd need someone to have written about the sentry in depth. From what you quoted that seems to be the basis for having a SCHOOL on the website, not a newspaper. The Sentry would not fit into the Yorktown page without makign it excessively cluttered, especially given how many sections there are.

If they don't have specific guidelines your arguments for deletion seem week, this articles detail is to the point that if it were to be put under the school, it would become cluttered. It is not merely a sentence or a paragraph, it is at least a page, and would probably double the school's size (I'll get the info in a sec)

Take a look at the other school pages. Do they have anything on 'methods' of journalism? No... The point is, what's on the Sentry page is pointless. Unless you can prove that the sentry's approach to the development of the paper is special, most of this isn't needed.
