Eridu canal
Eridu canal is clearly a waterway but not technically a channel in its modern meaning of artifical irrigation/water management.[citation needed] SnowyOwl Curiosity (talk) 20:49, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
- Eridu waterway is certainly a natural branch of the Euphrates, which is clear from its behavior. The idea it was a canal stems from a brilliant, but now outdated work by Thorkild Jacobsen, The Waters of Ur (1960) Ayadaragalama (talk) 19:10, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
@SnowyOwl Curiosity:Certainly the "Eridu canal" is actually a branch of the Euphrates (see "Babylonia under the Sealand and Kassite Dynasties edited by Susanne Paulus, Tim Clayden" for example), though to what extent it is natural and to what extent it was "improved" as human seem to invariably do is a philosophical question. If you think that there is a better way to word the article feel free. :-) And thank you for fixing the Wright ref error.Ploversegg (talk) 21:57, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
