Does computer monitor equivalent to TV? (even not watching video) I'm not asking about Computer_Addiction just if it induces alpha-waves and same brain states as TV.

The following seems non-sensical: By the time an American child enters school he or she has watched thousands of hours of commercials and can identify hundreds of logos while possibly not being able to read.[citation needed]

This seems to imply that children are less likely to know how to read because of watching TV. However most children enter school not knowing how to read. They generally do not learn reading until 1st grade.
