Lee Hazlewood. — QuicksilverT @ 04:44, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be no suggestion anywhere that the song particularly refers to drugs other than alcohol. He awakes with a hangover such as caused by alcohol. Additionally the setting of the song is probably late 19th century USA when heroin was not available, and though opium and cocaine were it was not snorted. He then clearly longs for sexual contact again, (not alcohol), so he does not consider himself date raped. "Summer wine" is almost certainly a euphomism for sex. I would suggest the last two sentences are deleted as anomolous and not supported by external references or normal reading of the lyrics — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.31.202.145 (talk) 10:03, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The "unfamiliar line" is just saying that the evening was not an act of jaded prostitution filled with "familiar lines" -- that he was "reassured" that the evening was personal if perhaps also professional to the lady. All that despite that she stole his stuff when she left. "Summer wine" is probably not just a reference to sex in general but an actual item that with other things helped make the whole evening with this specific woman a memorable, enjoyable. and unique act of seduction different from all his other sexual experiences. 72.182.3.3 (talk) 18:11, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
