William Ellis
This looks exactly like the idol that William Ellis (missionary) labeled as Ta'aroa in his 1833 book.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 23:33, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- That's because it's the same statue. William Ellis' identification of the statue as Ta'aroa is curious and no one is sure where he got that idea from. I recently made a comment about this over at Talk:Ta'aroa. Eniagrom (talk) 14:33, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
