Change title?

I suggest moving this article from Sober Coach to Sober companion (with a redirect of course), since it seems sober companion is by far the more commonly used term. Any objections? -- SiobhanHansa 13:29, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sober companion

There is a clear difference between sober coach and sober companion, with sober coach a name used mostly for marketing. If you do a google search for sober companion, you clearly see a strong distinction for the term. As a Sober Companion, I don't like to be confused with coaching. --99.61.53.113 (talk) 23:58, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If sober coach is so closely related to alcoholics anonymous, perhaps it should not be used on the same wiki page as sober companion. There are enough differences to distinguish one from the other. While prayer, meditation and other 12 step references are made, as well as rehabilitation backgrounds and addiction treatment professional, a sober companion is not as defined, and is simply hired for 100% abstinence of drugs, alcohol and 100% avoidance of enablers. Suggesting certification in the coaching method, and calling babysitting a therapy, is not valid. Connecting sober companion with coaching would disrupt the various approaches a sober companion takes, and must take to alter on a daily basis, to keep the addict sober. The 2 methods are very different and are not the same. a sober companion is not a medical procedure, and this is not a therapeutic approach. A sober companion is in fact, an anti-medical approach. A lesson of ease of procuring addictive pharmaceuticals should not be forgotten. (medicine is to blame for countless deaths and addictions)--76.168.57.239 (talk) 21:29, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
