claim

The claim that the word Sakastan derives from Old Persian Zaranka is dubious and unsubstantiated. The Sakestan page gives a different etymology, as land of the Saka. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.196.165.105 (talk) 22:18, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Someone added some utterly bogus information re Aurel Stein (not borne out by the actual Stein texts, which are available on the web) and a link to a kook website making grandiose claims for Sistan as the homeland of Buddhism! Ranjit Pal is not a recognized scholar and his website claims are utterly bogus.

I've been researching the history of Sistan for several years now, have read the original Stein texts (as well as Bellew, Sykes, Landor, etc. -- I'm still trying to get hold of some archaeological reports from the 1960s and 1970s, which are quite rare) and there is NOTHING to support these bizarre claims. Sakastan

Untitled

As the topic has historical and geographical coverage of last several centuries, use of the term Indian subcontinent shall be in order, instead of a relatively new term South Asia to avoid confusion. Accordingly, suitable changes are being made. --Bhadani 16:11, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please also see my comments on the Talk Pageof the Indian subcontinent. I am sure each one should honestly contribute to make the Project creditable. --Bhadani 16:30, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do we require reference to Rajputs in this page - almost 50% of the contents relate to Rajputs. We should write more about the place here, if a place named this exists at all. --Bhadani 17:01, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We are building the project wikipedia and it is not a link-farm: we should use standard links for references. Links with semi-commercial contents/ advertisements/ seeking donations, etc. do not serve useful purpose, and therefore I have removed such a link with a view to preserve the Project's credibility. --Bhadani 17:17, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added link to Dr. Ambekar's online book. That website may have sections to sell other items and ask for donations. But I was only giving link to the page where info about the Rajput suppression of Buddhist was available. May be we can agree on what sources we should use and also the content.

That is fine my dear Siddiqui saheb - my concern is very simple: we should add contents which are beyond doubt, albeit opinions as regards the "reliability" may differ including one's perception of a particular issue. I also suggest that we should confine to writing about the "geographical concept" and the "geographical reality" of Sakastan, instead of loading the page with unrelated contents. I also take this opportunity to convey my appreciation to you for contributing to the Project - we all are on the same boat with the same destination: to build the sum total of human knowledge. Thanks. --Bhadani 14:43, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sakasthan

I reduced the Sakasthan page to its defination and non-controversal version.

Perhpas contents may get expanded and mature over a period of time. --Bhadani 14:42, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sistan and Sakastan

Merged the unreferenced poorly written article "Sakastan", which is just another name for the same geographic region. One article is enough for the region. 86.99.216.121 (talk) 15:20, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Undiscussed controversial page move

Hi User:HistoryofIran please discuss this issue with User:Khestwol who had requested that your Undiscussed controversial page move be reverted back to original location. I handled that request. if you would still want to get this moved, please follow the proper procedure to rename a page at WP:RM by starting a move discussion. regards. --DBigXray 21:13, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@DBigXray:: He's literally lying, the Sakastan article ONLY covers Sasanian material. The move is nowhere near controversial, but a simple name correction to avoid a timeline confusion (which I decided to after [3]). --HistoryofIran (talk) 21:19, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
HistoryofIran please WP:AGF whatever be the case, since User:Khestwol has objected to your move (as i mentioned in my edit summary), it has now become controversial, so if you would still want this to be moved, please initiate a discussion with him to get consensus and then start an WP:RM discussion by making a good case for the move, this cannot be moved without a RM discussion. --DBigXray 21:25, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well, all it takes is to read the article to see who's telling the truth. But yes, I have already created a RM. --HistoryofIran (talk) 21:27, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Sakastan which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 21:30, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
