Recording date for "Glider"
Though Focus released a 50 year retrospective CD/DVD set last year with recording dates for the material, "Glider" cannot be correct. The band was in Chipping Norton, UK in May, 1973, recording what was later released as side one of the 1976 "Ship of Memories" LP. "Glider" appears on side two. Though drummer Pierre van der Linden left the band in October, 1973, he briefly returned for a few months in 1975 (live bootleg recordings bear this out), and during this time he recorded "Glider" with Focus. Furthermore, it was recording in Brussels, Belgium, as stated on the album liner notes, not in Chipping Norton. Finally, the synths used by Thijs van Leer were not in use by him in 1973, but afterwards. Compilation album?
Surely this is a studio album - albeit compiled from archive material? Doesn't a compilation imply that material has been released before? Best Witchwooder (talk) 09:31, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Not necessarily... The Who's album Odds and Sods is considered a compilation album despite featuring mainly previously unreleased material. So if they considered it a compilation, then Focus considered this one as such. Shadow King618 (talk) 22:39, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes, Ship of Memories is a compilation album, but it is a studio album because it's not a "greatest hits" compilation album, just like Odds and Sods. --NRKfan (talk) 18:21, 6 July 2018 (UTC)
Ship of Memories / The Focus Family Album / Golden Oldies - Studio albums
Editors at Wikipedia removes «Ship of Memories» from the discography over and over again. Why? Ship of Memories’’, Golden Oldies & Focus Family Album is a compilation STUDIO album. Compilation albums is "greatest hits", like "Hocus Pocus" (1994) & "Best of Vol. 2" (2011). No greatest hits compilations, but compilation studio albums is OK. Do not remove "Ship of Memories from the discography section on this page page. Thank you. --NRKfan (talk) 18:18, 6 July 2018 (UTC)
